1. Wear life of teeth increase to 10 days without loss nor breakage. The E1 design StarMet teeth preserved their penetration capacity and tooth changing was always fast and simple.

2. Less breaks and easier to replace parts have reduced machinery down time due to G.E.T. maintenance.

3. No breaks of the MTG Systems StarMet Cast Corner adapter have occurred since its installation in spite of working under extreme conditions.

The client wanted to improve the performance of the wear materials, especially the penetration and service life. The mine is located in a protected area where blasting is prohibited; therefore the material must be extracted from the ground and so penetration becomes an essential characteristic as well as having very robust wear parts that are easy to replace.

The ground freezes to a depth of 1.5 m in the winter and the teeth had a service life of 4 days (with the machinery operating 22 hours/day). The client had previously used wear parts of other brands and encountered penetration problems, breaks and difficulties when replacing the parts. The straddle adapters also did not have the desired resistance.
